I’m so excited to be returning to the screen as Rick, reuniting with Danai as Michonne, and bringing the fans an epic love story to add to the Walking Dead Universe. "The friendships I’ve made along the way are deep and lasting, so it’s fitting that I finally get to complete the story with Danai and Scott and the rest of the TWD family. “This has been the most extraordinary journey playing Rick Grimes for the best part of a decade," Lincoln said. Soon, we will see the next chapter of their stories. ![]() Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they've ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive - or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?"Ī seriously injured Rick Grimes was last seen in Season 9 of The Walking Dead being flown away by a helicopter, and Michonne left the show a season later after discovering Rick may still be alive. And ultimately, a war against the living. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead. According to the show’s official synopsis, it presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. After eight seasons, Carl played by Chandler. "This series presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world," the official description reads. The rumor states that in one of the Walking Dead movies, it seems that Carl will be returning in a flashback. AMC is saying the series will "begin with six episodes in 2023," potentially leaving the door open for this being more than a mini-series. The Walking Dead shambles on, groaning and gibbering on its shaky, emaciated legs, long after it should have been put down. The spin-off was revealed at The Walking Dead's San Diego Comic-Con panel and looks to "continue the journey and love story" of Rick Grimes and Michonne. In Vietnam, a squad of four African-American soldiers is deployed on a hazardous mission to rescue POWs from a remote jungle temple. The original comic books were created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore, with Charlie Adlard joining shortly after. Rick started this story out, he should have been the one to end it-not pop up in a spinoff or in some silly movies.īut here we are. The Walking Dead is a zombie apocalypse media franchise, including a comic book series, several television series, a web series, films, novels, video games, and various other media such as audio books and soundtracks. I think The Walking Dead should have brought Rick and Michonne back for the final season, even if that ended up being a Season 12. AMC is relying on diehard fans and star power to squeeze every penny out of The Walking Dead, instead of trusting in vision and ingenuity. This seems like a pretty big problem to me. Out of all five shows that will continue after the flagship show ends, only one will feature a wholly new cast. Even Negan has been around for close to half The Walking Dead’s run. Michonne is Season 3 and Maggie is Season 2. Rick and Daryl are both Season 1 characters. I think the real problem is that four out of five of these shows will just continue to feature characters we’ve known for years. No, not likely given the dearth of writing and storytelling talent on exhibit so far, but possible. ![]() It’s possible to have several different shows set in this universe that are compelling and cool. I don’t think that we’re necessarily facing a problem of “too many” Walking Dead shows. What next, a Morgan and Madison “spinoff” of Fear? Surviving against all odds because their plot armor is so thick, it transcends shows. Now we’re going to have to watch a show with Maggie and Negan in which they never come into contact with Rick or Daryl, because they’ll be off on their own shows, cut off from the larger group. All these spinoffs are doing is continuing the story of The Walking Dead in fractured pieces.
